Art school to draw visitors in

Malvern Editorial 11th Mar, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MALVERN art lovers have been invited to see the inner workings of one of the town’s top schools.

The Malvern School of Art, on Albert Road North, will be throwing its doors open for the public on Saturday (March 14) between 10am and 2pm.

The open event will allow visitors to get a unique glimpse of the workshops and studios used by the students.

As well as this, people will also be given the opportunity to see demonstrations of work by artists and craftspeople, talk to pupils and have a go themselves.

Visitors will be able to try a variety of activities including sculpture, jewellery making, bookbinding, stained glass, drawing, painting and textiles.

It will provide an opportunity for anyone considering taking a class to chat to tutors and students, see examples of work and explore the art rooms.

The school, which opened in 1886, offers a range of specialist workshops and options for people keen to develop their skills, gain a level three qualification, prepare for university, take up a creative career or study art at a higher level in Malvern.

Recreational classes are well supported by both people in the town and from around the country because it is one of very few colleges able to offer specialisms such as violin making, and bookbinding.
