WITH the mercury rising and the heatwave continuing Malvern Police have issued a warning to people not to be tempted to go swimming in Gullet Quarry.
Officers have stepped up patrols in the area to ensure people are not trespassing and swimming in the water.
Anyone caught could face court action.
Swimming in open water also poses its own dangers.
The shock of the cold water sees people get into difficulty, the depth of the water and underwater objects and hazards which may not be seen and the lack of safety equipment.
Gullet Quarry has claimed the lives of a number of people in the last decade.
Several swimmers have died at the site in the past few years, including an incident in 2013 when two lives were lost.
