AUTHOR and illustrator Hannah Shaw visited The Chase School to work with 28 students from Year 8 and 9.
She gave a presentation to explain her writing and illustrating techniques as well as offering insights into the world of publishing.
Hannah then led a picture book workshop and students used a storyboard planner to work towards the creation of mini-picture books.
A Chase School spokesperson said: “We all enjoyed listening to Hannah read an extract from The Scruffs, one of her recent books, and were amazed by her brilliant sketching skills.
“The students themselves produced some eye-catching illustrations and enjoyed telling their stories in words and pictures.
“Let’s hope one day one or more of these students will become published picture book authors and illustrators, following in the footsteps of former student Emma Carlisle who has also visited our library on many occasions.”
