A MALVERN charity has been given one of its biggest Christmas presents ever after receiving a mega £5,000 donation from an award-winning TV musician.

The What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful (WMYDMYB) charity has revealed on its Twitter and Faceboook pages that Paul Farrer had given them the four-figure donation just before Christmas.

Based at Lower Howsell Road, the charity acts as a support group for parents guardians of children who have learning difficulties or disabilities.

According to his website, Mr Farrer has composed the music to some of the country’s most popular television shows including The Weakest Link, Dancing On Ice, Gladiators, Fort Boyard, Judge Rinder and The Chase.

In 2012 he was commissioned to compose all the music to the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Variety Performance at The Royal Albert Hall in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen.

The Observer understands Mr Farrer was told about the charity after a conversation with West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin. He has also donated much needed funds to Link Nurseries and other charities in surrounding areas.

He told the Observer: “My charitable trust funds charity work and good causes throughout the year. The most recent grant awards in December were for £20,000 distributed to What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful, Link Nurseries, Tenbury NILs and a Marine Conservation Charity.

“I am extremely grateful to our MP Harriet Baldwin who has been invaluable in working with me to identify local good causes that I can help.

“Her insight and knowledge of the amazing work people are doing across the County is hugely important and I hope we can continue to rely her to identify areas we can help with future funding.”

WMYDMYB said a big thank you to Mr Farrer’s lovely gesture on social media.

Its Facebook Page reads: “A Massive thank you to Paul Farrer for giving us an amazing Christmas gift that will take us into a positive new year with a fabulous donation of £5,000 – we cant thank you enough this money will go along way to support the families. Merry Christmas x.”
