Bags of support for refugees

Malvern Editorial 26th Sep, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

VOLUNTEERS in Bromsberrow have played their part in efforts to support refugees by packaging items to be sent to people from war-torn countries.

Since the Ledbury Refugee Support Group was set up, 30 bags of clothing, tents, sleeping bags, toys and toiletries have been stored, sorted and labelled at The Shop.

The items have since been moved to Handley Organics in Ledbury where they will be taken by lorry to points abroad where the need is greatest.

A collection tin is on the counter at the Shop where customers have already been generously donating loose change.

Volunteer Jan Long said: “We are all aware of the terrible crisis of Syrian and other refugees where migration has taken on almost biblical proportions and when so many people have been left with nothing we here in Bromsberrow felt moved to take action and compassion has translated into generous giving.”
