A WORLD-RENOWNED dancer famous to millions has become a patron of a Malvern dance school.

There are plenty of exciting times ahead at the Ballet Malvern Centre of Dance school after Australian ballet dancer Dame Lucette Aldous signalled her support to the school.

During a glamorous and eventful career, she was well known for her partnership with Rudolf Nureyev – one of the most famous and celebrated male ballet dancers to ever grace the industry.

Nureyev danced with Aldous in the film The Nutcracker while with the Royal Ballet Company and subsequently in the role of Kitri in the film ‘Don Quixote’ for the Australian Ballet.

The patron deal came about after the school’s main teacher Rebecca Sloan-Kirton visited Dame Aldous, her former teacher, in Australia over the summer holidays.

As a patron she will make frequent visits to the Malvern school and teach youngsters the disciplines of world- renowned ballet dancing techniques.

Rebecca told the Observer: “We are thrilled to now have Dame Lucette Aldous as our patron for Ballet Malvern Centre of Dance – this is absolutely brilliant news.

“As a school we are influenced by Lucette’s dancing methods and techniques so this is a fantastic signal of support from her. It’s really exciting times for us at the moment.”
