Beautiful buildings can be nominated for asset list

Malvern Editorial 22nd May, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

BEAUTIFUL and attractive Malvern buildings which have caught the eyes of residents can now be nominated to become a Designated Heritage Asset.

People in the town are being encouraged to put forward buildings they love and favour in their area to go on the Malvern Hills District Council’s list of locally important structures.

Currently there are a number of listed buildings, scheduled monuments, conservation areas, registered parks and gardens along with a one registered battlefield within the district.

Residents can put forward nominations for buildings and structures which they think make a valuable contribution to a local sense of history, place and quality of life in the town.

If a building is placed on the list and a proposal was made to alter, extend or even demolished it the fact that it was on it would be an important consideration and may influence future planning decisions.

Duncan Rudge, the council’s development control manager, said: “Many buildings across the district will be important locally because of their architectural, historic or social interest, but we might not know much about them.

“This is an exciting opportunity for people to research buildings within the Malvern Hills district that they think are important and worthy of inclusion on the list, and that might merit greater protection by being included on the list.”

Anyone can submit a nomination and there is no deadline.
