Bogus TV engineer steals money from Malvern home

A WOMAN had money from stolen from her Malvern home after she was conned by a thief who pretended to be a TV engineer.

A man got in to a home in Newlands on Saturday, March 26 after he asked the victim if there was a problem with TV reception.

He then asked where the TV wires came into the house before making his way into the bedroom.

The occupier was asked to continually change channels on the TV while he was left alone in the bedroom before saying everything was okay and then left.




It was then noticed her handbag was not in its usual place and money from her purse inside the bag had been taken.

The offender is described as six-foot tall, white, in his 50s with a speech impediment.


He was wearing a dark grey suit jacket, grey shirt with dark buttons, blue jeans, brown-rimmed glasses along with navy gloves with a red and white pattern on them.

It is believed the man was driving a white L registration Ford Transit van at the time.
