A NEW ‘Books Aloud’ group starts this afternoon at Tenbury Wells Library.
The free weekly get-together runs from 2.30pm to 3.30pm every second Monday of the month and is open to anyone who wants to listen to books, poetry and short stories being read to them.
This is part of a wider health and well-being scheme being led by Libraries and Learning which tackles loneliness and social isolation to improve general mental health.
Libraries offer a warm, safe environment to meet like-minded people and engage in a hobby.
‘Books Aloud’ is one of several groups designed to help those feeling lonely.
Coun Lucy Hodgson, Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Communities, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people in Tenbury.
“I would encourage anyone who feels lonely or would like to make new friends, to go along, meet new people and share the benefits that reading can provide. Tenbury Library will offer a warm welcome.”
