'Broad welcome' given by residents at exhibition about plans to regenerate Malvern Technology Centre

MORE than 200 people attended a public exhibition about plans to regenerate the only major brownfield site in Malvern.

The event gave residents the chance to find out more about the proposals for the surplus area of the site at Malvern Technology Centre.

Guided by the policies set out in the South Worcestershire Development Plan, Square Bay has prepared a masterplan for the site to deliver a mixed-used regeneration scheme for up to 330 homes, 230,000sq ft of office, research and development employment space as well as a care home.

There was a broad welcome for the regeneration scheme, with more than 80 per cent of those who attended the exhibition and completed feedback forms indicating support for the principle of regenerating the derelict site with a mixed-use development.

Will Page, director of Square Bay, said: “We were delighted to have such a good turnout to the exhibition.

“We received some very useful feedback on the day, which will help us to refine the proposals as we prepare a planning application.

“We are particularly pleased that there is overwhelming support to see this derelict site redeveloped.”

Square Bay is working on the proposals for the site in collaboration with QinetiQ and Persimmon Homes and it is intended that a planning application will be submitted by early next year.
