WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has said the official work to build Malvern’s new primary school will begin on Monday.
A sod cutting ceremony to mark the start of the building of Malvern Vale Primary on Swinyard Road will be held on the morning of January 30, it has been announced.
The ceremony marks the start of a £4 million project which will expand the existing Somers Park Avenue School where the increase in capacity will accommodate pupils associated with new housing areas.
The project, which is being funded by the county Council, will see construction of a brand new single storey building to accommodate 210 pupils and provide teaching accommodation from Reception to Year 6.
In addition, the new facilities will include hard play areas, a netball court, soft landscaping and access to an existing junior sports pitch. There will also be a small car park for staff and disabled vehicle users, as well as storage for bicycles.
It is expected to open to pupils at the end of the year or beginning of 2018.
