COLLEGE and university students across Worcestershire could be in with a chance of partaking in the Malvern Hills Trust’s latest research projects.
The trust, a charity dedicated to taking care of the iconic hills, conducts specialist research projects to gather data and assess its work to inform its land management plan.
Each year the organisation select a couple of topics to be undertaken as research projects which are suitable for involvement of students.
The focus of this year’s research is on two projects – erosion hotspots and habitat modelling.
Conducting studies of erosion hotspots will help to understand the impacts of various recreational pressures on paths, tracks and trails, while focusing on habitat modelling will identify species benefiting most from the trust’s management of open habitats and help model different management interventions to protect wildlife.
The Trust uses a mix of staff, contractors and volunteers to undertake a huge variety of tasks to help look after the landscape, with roles supporting the research projects being unpaid volunteer positions.
Those interested can reach out to the trust for more information.
