Campaign trail starts early as Malvern Conservative's moot 'big and bold' plan for district

CONSERVATIVES members in West Worcestershire say they are putting together a ‘big and bold’ plan for the Malvern Hills district.

The plan will aim to set out a clear path of leadership by hopeful local representatives, with a vision to deliver legacy projects to improve the town and the surrounding communities for the better.

In recent weeks, the Conservative group on Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) have entered a coalition which has taken control of the council.

This has happened as the new coalition had common ground in their frustration at the lack of ideas and vision at MHDC and want to get on with delivering for residents.

The Conservative team of council candidates are currently assembling their detailed plan for the area, with policies focusing on ‘making sure that residents see a positive lasting change to the area in the years to come.’

The plan is set to be published for residents in March.

Deputy chairman political of West Worcestershire Conservative Association, Sebastian Barbour, said: “We have a great team of County Council candidates across West Worcestershire.

“We are working hard as a team to stand up for residents and the long-term future of our area.

“This means we are putting together a detailed plan and policy agenda, so that a Conservative vote in May will result in a clear direction and delivery.

“Our united team of candidates is also working with our district councillors, to ensure that we can break down the barriers of inaction that have been built up by the previous administration at MHDC and work across levels of local government in delivering the legacy projects that our area needs.

“The County Council elections in May are vital for our area’s local future, but also serve as an opportunity to send a message to the Government that our rural area does not support targeting our most vulnerable pensioners and hard-working farmers.

“Use your vote in May to send a message to Westminster, as well as playing your part in delivering lasting change for our local area.”
