Car park expansion planned for Malvern Link Railway Station

Malvern Editorial 22nd Dec, 2016   0

MALVERN Link Railway Station’s car park is set for expansion under new plans unveiled by Worcestershire County Council.

The county council has published its draft new version of the Local Transport Plan which has today (Thursday) gone to public consultation.

Earmarked in the huge plan is a project to expand the Worcester Road railway station’s car park which currently has a total of 96 spaces.

But council bosses cannot yet disclose a figure of how many more spaces will be provided becaue the Local Transport Plan is still at an early stage.

The plan sets out the County Council’s aspirations for investing in our transport networks, including infrastructure, technology and services which are essential to support planned growth and promote social and economic success as a highly desirable place to live work and visit.

The draft plan currently being consulted will cover the period from April 2017 until 2030.

As well as the station car park expansion, plans are also in the making to spruce up the Malvern Link shopping area on Worcester Road and – as reported last week – give Great Malvern Town Centre a facelift.

Coun Ken Pollock, responsible for Economy, Skills and Infrastructure at Worcestershire County Council, said: “Good planning and delivery of an efficient, affordable and multi-model transport network is essential if we are going to maintain our claim to be a world class county with prosperous and healthy communities.”

“We recognise just how important improving the roads and pavements are to people, as transport affects each and every one of us on a daily basis.

“To help us get it right it’s vital that people in Malvern get in touch to tell us what they think. Every view will be carefully considered.”

Anyone can register their thoughts on the plans via the feedback section on the County Council’s website until March 17 in 2017.

The online form enables people to make comment on specific parts of the plan and its related policies at any time from now until the end of the consultation.
