Celebrate Silver Sunday at Malvern care home

Malvern Editorial 6th Oct, 2018   0

A MALVERN care home is supporting this year’s Silver Sunday by hosting a free tea dance for older members of the town community.

The Springs Bupa Care Home, on Spring Lane, is hosting the event this Sunday from 2pm.

Silver Sunday is a national day of free fun and activities for older people across the UK and celebrates the value and knowledge they bring to our communities.

The event also aims to tackle the loneliness and isolation felt by many older people by providing social activities to encourage them to get out, try new things and meet new people.

Entertainment will take on a masquerade theme with music provided by a violinist. Guests will also be treated to tea and cakes.

Phil Harper, activity lead at The Springs, said: “With the appointment earlier this year of the first Minister for Loneliness, it’s clear that this is a significant issue and particularly so for older people.

“That’s why everyone involved with Bupa Care Homes is keen to support Silver Sunday and play a part in tackling social isolation at a local level.

“We’re holding events across the country to offer older members of our community somewhere to participate in a fun activity in the company of others.”
