CELEBRATIONS have been in full swing at a Malvern care home after one of its residents reached her centenary.
Jean Crouch, born in 1921, was surrounded by family, staff and residents at HC-One’s Court House during her big day on April 21.
She received more than 100 birthday cards – including that special one from the Queen – to mark the occasion thanks to social media group Postcards of Kindness which gathers well-wishes from local people and schools.
Residents watched in fascination as the home’s staff put up decorations and a seven-foot balloon arch for the special lady.
One resident said: “The decorations were lovely, especially the balloons with Jean’s pictures on.”
Jean was also treated to a delectable birthday cake, thanks to a kind donation from Suzie’s Sweet Treats based on Langland Avenue.
Home administrator, Sarah Soley, said: “It was overwhelming seeing so many people take the time to send cards or donate things to help Jean celebrate.
“It was lovely that her family could spend time with her on the day.”
Court House has 60 beds and offers residential and nursing care for the elderly and for young people with physical disabilities.
