Chance to raise a glass proves popular

HUNDREDS of people flocked to Hanley Swan to celebrate the official re-opening of its village pub which underwent a £250,000 revamp.

Julian Roskams, Mayor of Malvern, joined more than 400 people to open The Swan Inn following its two-week refurbishment, which was funded through a partnership with the owners, Punch Taverns.

A new oak-framed conservatory has been built, the layout has been changed, new furnishings have been fitted inside and out and a real fire and log burner are also in place.

The work totalled £262,000.

Barney Reynolds took on The Swan Inn September last year and said this was the latest phase of his plan to put his own mark on the pub.

He said: “I am aiming to create a really special pub for the village, complete with outrageously good food, served in a relaxed setting.

“Thanks to the Punch Taverns investment, we now have a better kitchen and more space for diners.”

A new menu has also been launched at the pub, which dates back to the 18th century.

Chris Payne, new business development manager for Punch Taverns, added: “We have been really impressed by Barney’s very high standards.

“He has created an amazing environment at The Swan Inn, clean and modern, at the same time as welcoming and rustic.

“We are looking forward to a long and productive partnership.”
