MALVERN Male Voice Choir’s annual charity concert helped raise nearly £1000 for Cancer Research UK.

The ‘Come and Hear!’ concert took place in the Big School at Malvern College on Saturday March, 25 with support from Chase School Choir.

Audience members were treated to a ‘brilliant’ musical programme of traditional and modern songs with stand out solos by Graham Purcocks and united performances from both choirs.

The group, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year was conducted by its popular musical director Charles Pavey accompanied by composer, Colin Willis who gave the first public performance of one of his pieces.

Charles Pavey said: “I was delighted with the evening and the venue was acoustically magnificent, as were the choirs.”

A Cancer Research spokesperson said: “Once again Malvern Male Voice Choir continue to entertain us and raise much needed funds for Cancer Research UK and we applaud its dedication to our cause.”

The Choir will be back in action with two more concerts this summer on May 13 at Christchurch Church Avenue Road Malvern from 7.30pm and June 17 at Holy Trinity Church Malvern, time to be announced.
