Chase School students visit Gloucester to learn more about Islam and Christianity

Malvern Editorial 17th Mar, 2018   0

PUPILS studying religion, philosophy and ethics at The Chase School visited the Cathedral and the Masjid E-Noor mosque in Gloucester to explore different beliefs and practices in Islam and Christianity.

At the mosque, students were able to visit the masjid (wash room) and prayer room where they witnessed how Muslims prepare for daily prayer.

The Imam explained the importance of having an accurate understanding of Islam.

Students then had the opportunity to ask questions to the Imam.

They then went to Gloucester Cathedral to learn more about Christianity.

A school spokesperson said: “Not only was the trip useful in learning about Christian and Muslim beliefs which students can use in their GCSE exams, but students have also gained an understanding of different cultures in society which is invaluable to have in an ever-increasingly diverse society.”
