Civic awards to recognise two contrasting Malvern homes

Malvern Editorial 20th Jun, 2017   0

TWO contrasting houses in Malvern have scooped top honours at this year’s town civic awards.

The certificates of excellence will be awarded by the Malvern Civic Society to the owners of two very different buildings at a society meeting later this year.

One of the winners, 366 Pickersleigh Road, built by Steve and Lee Bone, was praised for its design, it high standard of workmanship and its eco-friendly and low maintenance features.

The second certificate of excellence will be awarded to ‘Copper Beeches’ an Edwardian House on Albert Road. Owner Richard Southall, who bought the property in 2004, has been praised for bringing the property back to life whilst preserving its authentic period detail.

And due to it being the 50th anniversary of the Civic Amenities Act which created Conservation Areas, Malvern Civic Society has also awarded Richard the Special Award for Excellence in Conservation.

There were also four other buildings which just missed out on a certificate of excellence award.

They included the new shop ‘Rhubarb Home,’ the converted Town Club on Worcester Road, the rescued ‘Ivydene’ Victorian mansion on Albert Road, and the Regency villa ‘Ivycrest’’ on Worcester Road.
