VOLUNTEERS from Malvern Civic Society went litter picking in the town centre last Sunday.
Six bags of rubbish were collected in just one hour.
Clive Hooper, chairman of the civic society, said: “We were blessed with fine weather which helped a great deal, but we were surprised at the amount of litter we did collect.
“There were lots of cigarette ends, some beer cans and bottles, and papers and tissues.
“One trader told us he swept the forecourt of his property every day to keep the rubbish under control.
“The lesson is, of course, to everyone to take your litter home and keep the town looking smart, clean and tidy.”
