College students create Armistice Day artwork in honour of fallen soldiers

A COUPLE of Malvern students have used their artistic skills to honour the fallen soldiers of World War I and other conflicts in the build up to Remembrance Day.

Painting and decorating students, Katie Beddoes and Scott Thomas, from Malvern’s Heart of Worcestershire College campus have worked together to create a Union Jack flag adorned with the iconic Silent Soldier Silhouette and the words ‘Lest We Forget’.

Mark Tutt, HoW College’s Construction Tutor in Malvern said: “As a former army reservist and MOD police constable I am very pleased to see that some of our young people remember what has been sacrificed in the past, to give us the freedoms we enjoy today.

“And that they are aware that these freedoms and rights we often take for granted need to defended by our current service men and women.”

Representatives of the college are ‘extremely proud’ to have the students’ creation on their wall, which reminds them of the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended the nation at war.

The college is also encouraging everyone to visit the college campus to see the artwork.
