MALVERN people, businesses and other organisations are being urged by the district council to come forward with ideas that could make their area greener, more connected and healthier, writes Lucy Belfield.
The council is launching Crowdfund Malvern Hills alongside the crowdfunding platform Spacehive.
People will be able to create projects to enhance the district.
Projects signed up for crowdfunding will get a donation from the council as well as from members of the community to help them reach their fundraising target.
Projects have ranged from a community transport bus in Tenbury and wildlife conservation on the Malvern Hills to combatting social isolation and supporting those in Upton after the Covid-19 pandemic.
A launch event is being held at Malvern Cube between 2pm and 3.30pm on August 3.
The event will include guest speakers offering information on what funding is available, advice on creating a project and how to run it on the platform, as well as providing specialist support.
Guest speakers include Sarah Nickolds, Partnership Manager at Spacehive, Nicola Turrell, Malvern Cube manager, Malvern Hills District councillors and successful project creators.
Coun Tom Wells, Malvern Hills District Council’s leader and portfolio holder for communities, said: “Whether your project is big or small, it can still make a difference to the community.
“We are encouraging groups, organisations, businesses and individuals to come forward with their ideas so we can help make them a reality.
“Project creators will receive guidance and support every step of the way.”
