A DAY care centre for adults with disabilities in Malvern is celebrating after smashing their fundraising target to upgrade their facilities.

Jack’s Place Care, nestled near the small village of Berrow among the back drop of the Malvern Hills, have secured £2316 to purchase a large 18 seater multi-purpose table with chairs.

The centre shattered their fundraising target of £1738 allowing them to purchase a table suitable enough for all of their daily activities including arts and crafts, cooking, baking and eating, and socialising.

It will also be used to partake in seasonal horticultural activities such as wreath making, pumpkin carving and countless other activities for visitors to the centre.

Fundraising for the group came from close family, friends and other organisations in the community including Malvern Hills District Council who pledged over £880 and The Plough pub who helped raise £444.

A spokesperson for Jacks Place said:

“We are over the moon with the Spacehive funding project success.

“We are so grateful to Malvern Hills Connected communities fund for their huge contribution and also to councillor Jennie Watkins for donating from her divisional fund.

“We are also grateful to the Plough, our local community and everyone who contributed.

“We can now programme in more creative events for our clients but also for the wider community – the future is bright for Jacks Place.”

A Christmas party raffle hosted by Jack’s Place Care also brought in donations of £600.

Councillor Tom Wells, portfolio holder for community services at Malvern Hills District Council, said:

“Jack’s Place Care CIC provides an essential service to adults with learning disabilities and adults with mental health issues.

“The benefits of a new table are not only to provide a space for activities but it means there is enough room to include more clients, host more community events, and provide comfort for clients.

“We are pleased to have donated to this project which aims to reduce isolation and enhance mental health, two of our council priorities.”

Malvern Hills District Councillor Jennie Watkins also donated over £200 from her divisional fund.

She said: “I am pleased to have used my Ward Budget to help Jack’s Place CIC reach their fundraising target.

“The addition of a table will make a huge difference to clients and will allow others in the community to access a warm and friendly space.”
