DOZENS of residents attended a Malvern community centre to put their own twist on celebrating the 70th anniversary of VE Day.
Zest for Life Entertainments hosted the event at the Octagon Community Centre last Wednesday (May 6) to celebrate peace and an end to armed conflict.
The Brook Farm Drive site was decorated with banners and balloons to resemble a 1940s tea dance, with a buffet, cupcakes, salad and candy floss also prepared by volunteers.
Fancy dress and songs from the era were all on the agenda.
Chantelle Brookes, events organiser and fund-raiser for the centre, said: “It was about getting everyone to celebrate the 70 years of peace throughout Europe.
“There are a lot of people who have lost members of family throughout wars so it is about that as well.”
Zest for Life is open at the Octagon every Wednesday from 12pm to 2pm.
