Malvern Editorial 9th Nov, 2016   0

KEEN volunteers are needed join a litter hit squad to help clean up the Malvern Hills district.

Malvern Hills District Council plans to introduce a special team to help tackle litter hotspot areas and is looking for people to join the squad.

The new team will be made up of residents, staff and councillors from Malvern Hills District Council, with the first outing planned on Friday 18 November for two hours.

Residents are asked to send in their nominations for litter hotspots that they think are in need of some attention by Friday, November 11.

The council will provide pickers, gloves, bags and collection. Equipment is also available to local community groups who would like to conduct their own litter pick.

Coun Bronwen Behan, responsible for environment at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Overall the cleanliness of the district is of a high standard, but unfortunately there are still some areas where litter louts continue to drop litter.

“Creating our special hit squad is a great way to get out and about and clean parts of the district so that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy this wonderful area”.
