Council hiring an events co-ordinator to keep town on calendars

THE NUMBER of events in Malvern looks set to increase after the town council created a role to help expand its calendar.

Councillors unanimously voted to widen its events calendar and to employ a full-time events coordinator to build on community activities such as Mayor’s Bonanza and Bands in the Park.

This follows a recommendation from the policy and resources committee.

The role will also be responsible for developing partnerships with other organisations to build the town’s reputation.

Eadwine Brown, who has been handed the job following a period of maternity cover as the events and operations officer, said: “I am very pleased to have been offered this position.

“I am looking forward to contributing to the many events that make Malvern unique.

“The councillors and myself have plenty of ideas for expanding our events calendar, and I am keen to get to grips with planning organising.”

Town councillor Julian Roskams added: “We are very fortunate at Malvern Town Council to have very hard-working and talented staff.

“I am delighted the council has now decided to fully utilise those talents by doing what we do so well – putting on a greater range of events for the people of Malvern, attracting more people to visit the area and help us celebrate this wonderful town of ours.”
