County council issues survey on improving advocacy support for those in need

Malvern Editorial 29th Mar, 2024   0

A SURVEY is being conducted on how ‘advocacy support’ can be improved in Worcestershire.

‘Advocacy support’ is an important service which enables people to have their say on what happens in their lives – it helps people speak out about their rights, what they need and what is important to them.

An ‘advocate’ offers independent support to make sure a person’s views, rights and wishes are considered when decisions are being made relating to their care, living arrangements and medical treatment, their support helps people with speaking up on decisions about health and social care needs.

The research is aimed at those accessing advocacy support, including unpaid carers, families, organisations and professionals.

The answers given will help Worcestershire County Council shape the service for the future.

Mark Fitton, the authority’s strategic director of people, said: “We want to know what works well, any gaps in these services, and any ideas you may have to help improve our advocacy service.”

The survey – at https://online1.snapsurveys.com/interview/e098e4f6-9f9d-486d-b0db-88107ba274f7 – is available to fill out until 9am on April 22.
