Covid advisors now out on the streets of Malvern to offer a helping hand

NEW Covid advisors are now out and about on the streets of Malvern and the rest of Worcestershire, offering help to residents and businesses to ensure the current regulations and guidance is adhered to.

They are being deployed across the county to meet the local need, dispel myths surrounding the virus and to provide extra support in any areas of concern.

Coun John Smith, Worcestershire’s Health and Wellbeing Board Chairman, said: “I’m pleased we now have some of the advisors on board to help support our local communities and businesses during these difficult times.

“There’s a lot of mis-information out there and the role of these advisors is to ensure that people have the correct information to make informed choices.”

He added the response to the advisors had generally been positive as people recognised the benefits of reminders to maintain safe social distancing and wear a face covering when needed.

A total of 13 advisors have been fully trained and are now in post, with a view to having 20 in total to cover the county.

Worcestershire County Council said it was a rapidly changing situation and the experiences of the advisors on the ground would help to direct where additional support was needed.

The team will also help promote the Here 2 Help support available and provide advice to businesses to ensure workplaces are safe.

The new roles have been funded by central Government and have been created in partnership between the six county district councils and are supported by Worcestershire County Council.
