Crime commissioner commits to delivering a safer West Mercia

Malvern Editorial 8th May, 2017   0

WEST Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner has reaffirmed his commitment to building a safer area and says he will continue to build on the progress made in his first 12 month in office.

A year on from the PCC elections, John Campion has taken steps towards reforming the police, delivering better services for victims of crime and delivering which are safe and feel safe.

He has also delivered on freezing council tax, creating a new Victims Charter, increasing police police visibility, improving PCC transparency and engaging with communities.

Mr Campion said: “I have worked hard to repay the faith our communities put me in a year ago and will continue to do so.

“I have been pleased with some of the progress made in the last 12 months, but it’s clear a lot of important work and challenges still lie ahead.”

The Commissioner also stated that while body worn video and mobile technology is moving forward, there is more work to be done to make the police as effective as it can be to allow officers to do difficult jobs to the best of their ability.

He added: “We have set a strong foundation. Now I will continue to keep a close grip on finances, develop further partnership collaboration and empower our communities to deliver my vision for a safer West Mercia.”
