A TEENAGE girl from Malvern has been banned from entering four shops in town after being handed a criminal behaviour order.
Cody Smith, 19, of Oak Crescent, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court last Thursday through a video link and was found guilty of two counts of shoplifting and given a 14-day prison sentence.
She will serve this alongside the current 20-week sentence which was imposed on May 25 this year after being found guilty of four shoplifting offences and two offences of failing to attend initial drug assessments.
Following her sentencing last week, Smith has been given a criminal behaviour order which will be valid for three years.
It prohibits her from entering the Londis store on Upper Howsell Road, the Co-op stores on Upper Howsell Road and Worcester Road as well as Sainsburys on Buttercup Walk.
Smith is also prohibited from being verbally abusive or using foul language towards others which causes harassment, alarm or distress as well as entering any retail premises in company with Ben Wood, Sam Wood or Anthony Clark.
PC Steven Tandy, of Malvern’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The police will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and those who continue to commit shoplifting offences.
“We are aware in many cases the proceeds from which are used to fund a drug taking lifestyle.
“Shop workers and members of the public should be able to go about their daily business without having to witness those who cannot behave in a reasonable manner.”
