MALVERN’s award winning independent music festival is seeking fund-raisers and volunteers for this year’s summer event.

Mappfest, winner of Pride of Malvern Hill Community People’s Choice Award is hoping for £2,000 so it can once again bring their its friendly festival to the district.

Various musicians, local and from further afield, will volunteer their time to perform for attendees.

The festival which has raised tens of thousands of pounds since it began in 2009, is run completely by volunteers and relies significantly on money raised by the festival’s tombola, licensed bar, food vendors and from craft stalls and children’s fairground rides.

Festival founder Andy Mapp hopes the festival can welcome a fly-over from the RAF. In previous years the festival has seen the Red Arrows, Spitfires, a Dakota and a Lancaster bomber overhead.

The Princess Royal met event organisers in 2018, praising them for their work in supporting local charities.

Organisers are hoping fund-raising efforts will allow them to host the festival on June 17 and 18 at Malvern Link Common.

Andy said: “For over a decade we have presented one of the best totally independent music festivals in the country and we are really pleased with what we have achieved.

“We have to rely on the kindness of others to make this work, everyone donates their time for free, including the musicians.

“I’m thankful for all the support over the years. “
