A CROWDFUNDING campaign has been launched so Hanley Swan Village can pay for five duck houses.
The avian accommodation will go on the village’s beautiful pond.
Gigi Verlander, who started the campaign, wrote on the GoFundMe page: “You know the amazing work that was achieved last year by the many volunteers who all work so hard to keep our pond looking healthy and beautiful.
“It was sad to see the old duck houses being removed, but they were totally shot, so a new plan is now in place to build new duck houses in specially treated wood to ensure this new duck house development will last for many many years.”
The houses have also been designed so they will be easy to maintain for future pond wardens.
Those donating can be part of the pond’s legacy and have their contributions recognised on the Hanley Swan Pond website.
The campaign has been so successful the initial £1,350 target has now been surpassed and £2,000 has so far been pledged.
The excess in donations will go towards funding the island,
Gigi added: “Huge thanks if you donated – it’s really appreciated by your community.”
