Customers will be taken to post office by minibus

CUSTOMERS of Ledbury Post Office will have alternative transport measures to use while their counter is closed.

The branch will shut from this Saturday (April 11) until April 23.

Community action coordinator Clive Gunn, Annette Crowe and Ledbury Rotarian Jan Long have formed an alliance to offer all inclusive transport to take residents to the Colwall Post Office every day until the counter reopens.

A volunteer driver will be on standby with one of the Community Action Ledbury minibuses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays under the watch of Ledbury Town Council.

Ledbury Rotary Club will be ensuring residents are able to get to The Shop, in Bromsberrow, on Tuesdays and Thursdays where there is an outreach post office service from 10am until 12pm.

Anyone wanting to take advantage of the alternative service should report to the old CAL office in the road leading to Bye Street Car Park, just around the corner from Ledbury Post Office.

The CAL office will be open to provide shelter where there will be information about bus timetables and available seats.

The minibus will run whenever there are at least 12 passengers and will shuttle back and forth starting at 9.30am and aiming to finish at 12.30pm. If there is a greater need, two minibuses will operate.

Clive Gunn said passengers should be Ledbury residents who have no other way of getting to a post office during the closure and who have personal matters to attend to.

Jan Long added: “Ledbury Rotary Club is delighted to be able to serve its local community and help with the organisation and funding of transport during the closure period.

“There are many people who would simply not have the facilities to make their way to Colwall or Malvern or Bromsberrow Heath, which is only four miles away.

“We are delighted to work in partnership with the CAL to ensure that no-one is inconvenienced.”

Tickets are £1 per person.
