LIFE saving equipment has been installed at the Guildhall in Worcester, after the sudden death of Malvern Councillor Chris Cheeseman at a council meeting.
The defibrillator was bought by the city council after a campaign by Coun Lucy Hodgson.
Coun Cheeseman collapsed during a planning committee meeting at a Malvern Hills District Council meeting last year and, despite the best efforts of his colleagues and paramedics, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
Coun Lucy Hodgson said: “I hope this equipment will never be needed, but two or three minutes on a defibrillator can make the difference whether someone lives or dies.
“As the Guildhall is a central Worcester location, it has the potential to be used by passing members of the public or nearby traders in an emergency too.”
Guildhall staff have also been trained on how to use the new equipment.
