AN ELDERLY man was rescued from the Malvern Hills after suffering back pain whilst out walking.

The incident, involving the 79-year-old, happened about 5.45pm last Wednesday (April 8).

The area was inaccessible for the ambulance crews so Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service used a Land Rover and an Argocat Sprinter to reach the patient.

He was then transported half-a-mile across the tricky terrrain before being handed to the ambulance service.

A Hazardous, Area Response Team (HART) and paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service checked him over at the scene and it was deemed that he did not need any further treatment.
