CHILDREN are invited to discover Worcestershire’s ancient Ice Age past by becoming an archaeologist for the day.
By digging for real archaeological objects in sandpits and identifying animal bones, youngsters will learn about what kinds of animals lived in the county thousands of years ago at the Ice Age Animal Archaeology event.
The event is taking place in the children’s library at The Hive on Thursday from 10am to 3pm as part of the Summer Reading Challenge.
Funded by the heritage Lottery Fund as part of the Lost Landscapes of Worcestershire project, children will learn about an ancient Worcestershire.
Nina O’Hare, Community Archaeologist, said: “This is a great opportunity for children to pick up a trowel and see what they can discover.
“They will also be able to find out about the amazing animals that used to live in our country such a mammoths and lions.”
The event is free and children are able to drop in throughout the day.
