TWO dog owners are feeling on top of the world (or the hills at least) after their pet Margo was named Mutt of the Malverns.
The 18-month-old half-working Cocker Spaniel and half Labrador, owned by Jude and James Wild, scooped the top #MalvernMutts prize out of more than 250 entries. After whittling it down to the top ten, it was up to the public to vote on the winner.
The photographic competition was launched earlier this year by Visit The Malverns, in conjunction with FISH4DOGS which provided a £100 hamper loaded full of dog treats and dog food.
It ran from July 24 to August 31 with participants being challenged to take a photograph of their dog out and about walking on the Malverns and submit it by using the #MalvernMutts hashtag.
In the winning picture Margo had the ridge of the Malvern Hills behind her.
Margo, who comes from Ashford Kennels in Shropshire, is named after the posh character Margo in hit BBC TV sitcom The Good Life and even has her own Instagram page – Click here to visit her page and to follow Margo.
Jude said: “Margo is delighted to win the prize.
“She is hugely grateful to those that voted for her and will reward anyone she sees on the hills with smiles and tail wags.
“She hopes to see you all up there enjoying the beautiful views.”
Coun Sarah Rouse, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “A big well done to Jude and James, and Margo of course, for scooping the top prize.
“Thank you to everyone who got involved, it has been lovely to see so many Malvern Mutts enjoying our stunning scenery and sitting at our dog friendly venues.”
