DONKEYS were dressed to impress for the Malvern May Day Donkey Procession as they put their best hoof forward to raise £450 for two worthy charities.
The money, which was collected at the annual event on Sunday, will be split between Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land and the Malvern Spa Association.
Large crowds turned out to greet the animals at the Priory Gatehouse and watch them being blessed as part of the celebrations.
The crowds then followed the donkeys and the May Day revellers in their gorgeous, folk-lore inspired costumes as they processed round the town centre, singing traditional songs and visiting the main springs and spouts.
Rev Val Needham, event organiser, said: “Everyone had a wonderful day and the people of Malvern were incredibly generous with their donations.
“Thanks are also due to the Malvern Hills Conservators who kindly gave permission for the much-appreciated minibus service up to St Ann’s Knoll.”
