Drivers thanked for their patience

MOTORISTS using one of the busiest stretches of road in and out of Malvern have been thanked for their patience during overnight closures to improve the surface.

Worcestershire County Council praised commuters after the A4440 Southern Link Road was shut between February 15 and 20 as part of the multi-million pound improvement scheme on the key route.

The work saw the Kempsey, Worcester and Powick arms of the Ketch junction managed by three-way traffic lights, while diversions were also set in place in Worcester from Whittington island via London Road, the Sidbury junction and Bath Road.

Coun Simon Geraghty, county council deputy leader and cabinet member for economy, skills and infrastructure, said: “I would like to thank everyone for their patience while these essential parts of this improvement project were carried out overnight last week.

“We are fully committed to delivering major investment in our transport network to ensure Worcestershire is Open for Business and this project demonstrates this.”
