Duo to walk length of Severn Way in aid of Malvern Special Families

TWO dedicated fund-raisers are to complete their walk from Worcester to Bristol this weekend to raise awareness of a Malvern charity which supports families who have children with disabilities.

Kerrin Fearns and Briony Mills have set themselves the challenge of walking the entire length of the Severn Way, more than 200 miles, in aid of Malvern Special Families as the charity celebrates its 30th birthday.

The first half of their journey in June last year took five days to walk the 113-mile stretch from Plynlimon to Worcester.

Today (Friday), the duo start the second and final part of their mammoth task which will see them clock up a total of 224 miles to highlight the work of MSF.

The walk is expected to take three days to complete and so far the pair have raised £550.

Kerrin said: “Malvern Special Families have made a massive difference to my life by providing safe and stimulating play schemes to my daughter over the ten 10 years.

“They are a fantastic organisation which is used by many local families and they provide opportunities for children with disabilities to enjoy activities which may not ordinarily be available to them.

“Briony and I set ourselves this personal challenge and took the opportunity to fund-raise for a brilliant cause at the same time.

Cassie Zoro, community fund-raiser at MSF, added: “Kerrin and Briony have set themselves a brilliant and tough challenge to help raise awareness for Malvern Special Families.

“We wish them fine weather and the best of luck for the weekend and are encouraging anyone else who would like to fund-raise to get in touch and get involved to help us celebrate 30 years of our small charity.”
