Early chance for Malvern's workers to get fit at Sport Dyson Perrins

WORKERS now have more opportunities to get active and keep fit thanks to Sport Dyson Perrins.

Freedom Leisure has introduced early morning opening at the Yates Hay Road centre as a way of helping people to fit their daily dose of physical activity into their busy lifestyle.

The centre’s gym and sporting facilities are now available from 6.30am to 8am and 4pm to 10pm during the week and from 9am to 4pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.

The Government recommended people should be physically active for 30 minutes a day, five times a week.

However, most people struggle to reach the target due to the increasing demands of modern life.

In the Malvern Hills district alone 42 per cent of people aged over 16 do not meet the recommended weekly target.

James Hayward, centre manager at Sport Dyson Perrins, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to be active as it has so many health and well-being benefits and opening the centre early gives people that extra opportunity before work or the school run.”

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on Malvern Hills District Council which owns Sport Dyson Perrins, added: “We want as many people as possible and of all ages to be physically active and I’m delighted to see Freedom Leisure providing more opportunity for our residents to do that.”
