AN EXTRA buzz was added to a prestigious event celebrating the rise of electric cars in Worcestershire.
Harriett Baldwin, Conservative MP for West Worcestershire, is patron of the Malvern Hills Electric Automobile Association and was invited to formally open the event, which was held at Malvern Theatre last Sunday (April 26).
More than a dozen electric cars, including a Tesla, Porsches and the BMW i8, were on display on the day.
Both Worcestershire County Council and Malvern Hills District Council have committed to installing re-charging points across the area.
Mrs Baldwin said: “The brilliant brains of Malvern have led the way for many decades helping to exploit technology to improve our daily lives.
“It seems to me that Malvern people have taken electric cars to their hearts and will lead the drive towards much wider use of the technology.
“I am pleased there is already a network of charging points across the county and this will go a long way towards helping to stimulate further demand for electric cars.”
