A SELF-EMPLOYED hairdresser told of her emotion after she picked up top prize at the Three Counties Wedding Awards.

Sarah Cottrell, who rents at chair at Just Hair Design in Malvern Link, was left stunned when she was crowned Worcestershire’s ‘Best Wedding Hairstylist’.

She said: “When I won the award I just burst out crying.

“From the age of five all I have wanted to do is hairdressing and when I was 14 I started getting the necessary training.

“Voting for the award could only be done by brides I had dealt with and I thought there was no way I was going to have a chance of winning.

“But it was an amazing feeling when I found out I had won the award.”

Sarah will now go up against the regional winners for Herefordshire and Gloucestershire for the overall Three Counties prize which will be awarded in October.

But regardless of the result, she said she will be more than happy to be a part of the awards ceremony.

“I think I would be speechless if I won the overall award as it would me so much to me,” she added.

“We are going to make a night of it by staying in a hotel but if I don’t win I will still be happy.”
