UNDECIDED EU Referendum voters got the opportunity to get some much needed answers before casting their vote during a special event in Malvern last night (Tuesday).

More than 100 people turned up at the Malvern Cube session featuring West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and the Bishop of Worcester, Dr John Inge.

The panel session was chaired by emeritus professor in EU law Evelyn Ellis and featured contributions from Malvern Green Party chair Jackie Smethurst.

Bishop John said: “The vote on whether or not to remain in the EU is arguably the most significant decision of our generation. The decision is significant not only for this country but for the rest of Europe and the world.

“I hope this event gave people who haven’t yet made up their minds, a chance to engage with the issues and allow them to reflect carefully before deciding where to place their cross.”

However it was not just the EU on the agenda, as wildlife campaigners made their feelings heard outside the building protesting over badger culling.

Demonstrators were angry at the MP’s support for the badger cull and they waved placards and called on her to oppose the cull and “save the badgers”.

The protesters were joined by Labour’s Daniel Walton, who recently stood as a candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner in West Mercia.
