Malvern Editorial 2nd Jun, 2023   0

A COUNTRYSIDE walk enabling people to see an ‘orchid extravaganza’ will take place on the Malvern Hills tomorrow (Saturday).

The stroll takes place from 2pm to 4pm and will enable participants to explore the beautiful blooms of Malvern Common.

Those wanting to take part should meet at the junction of St Andrews Road and Peachfield Road. Parking is available at car parks on Peachfield Road and St Andrews Road.

The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its flora. The walk will take in some of the beautiful flowers and grasses of this ‘magical haymeadow’. These include orchids, yellow rattle and knapweed.

The walk is suitable for families and children aged 12 and over. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The stroll is billed as an easy walk along grassy paths. The route is around one mile at a slow pace with frequent stops.

People should dress to the weather, including a hat, sun cream and waterproofs in case of rain.

Places are limited and should be booked by emailing [email protected]

The event is free but to support the work of the Malvern Hills Trust, a donation of £5 per person is suggested. The cash will be gratefully received and go towards the conservation the Hills and Commons.
