FAMILY entertainment is big news at this year’s Malvern Autumn Show.
Just like the enormously popular National Giant Vegetables Championship, the fun this year is super-sized.
Diana Walton, head of shows at the Three Counties Showground, said: “We know how much families love to get into the spirit of Malvern Autumn Show so whether young in years or young at heart we’ve made sure that there’s something for everyone.
“Families can have fun in the Vintage Village, meet furry and feathered friends in the World of Animals supported by Bredon School, try their hand at new crafts or give mini golf a go, and, of course, be dwarfed by the nation’s largest vegetables.
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors to our beautiful showground to enjoy the best family entertainment
and fruits of the season.”
The Family Green, supported by Nationwide Building Society, is the place to get both active and creative.
Activities include mini golf, croquet, giant Jenga and pedal tractors for the energetically minded, there’s also the chance to learn circus skills in the Family Tent hosted by Junkfish, or compose an original poem with the Nationwide TV poets.
Bear Grylls fans can head to the new Really Rural stand to hone their den building and bush craft skills or learn how to tie a fly like a pro with the Worcester Flydressers Guild.
Next to the Family Green sits the Top Dogs Arena, hosted by Peter Purves, where visitors will be wowed by displays demonstrating the very best of canine agility and ability.
More four legged friends can also be found in The World of Animals, supported by Bredon School, which features all sorts of animals from donkeys and Shetland ponies to Australian terriers and alpacas.
Another new addition will be llamas, Hurley and Django.
Friendly and inquisitive, they will be out and about, enjoying a walk during the show and will be delighted to say hello to visitors.
They are joined by newcomers from the Galapagos, the gentle Giant Tortoises will be making their first appearance and visitors will get the chance to learn all about these noble creatures as well as feed them their favourite snacks.
The new Creepy Crawly Critters display showcases some of the lesser known but no less important inhabitants of the three counties.
Beekeepers and conservationists will be on hand with information and advice about how to support invertebrates as well as giving a bug’s eye view of the kind of creepy crawlies that share our lives.
Creative kids must visit the Vintage Craft area in the Vintage Village.
They’ll be able to create glove puppets out of old socks and make wooden peg dolls from recycled
textiles.
The women’s division of the Royal British Legion will be crocheting and knitting poppies for their remembrance display and will welcome all ages to contribute towards this important cause.
Crafty youngsters can also check out the Discover Harvest Village Show competition before visiting the showground.
With three different age ranges and categories as diverse as decorated wellington boots, miniature gardens and the ever-popular edible animals, children can enter for the chance to win a prize.
