Fearless fund-raisers raise more than £1,000 for Malvern Special Families

TWO dedicated fund-raisers completed one of the country’s toughest ultra-marathon challenges in aid of Malvern charity supports families who have children with disabilities.

Kerrin Fearns and Briony Mills, from Worcester, took part in the Race to the Stones event where runners were challenged to run 100km along Britain’s oldest path within 24 hours.

The duo set off from the Chilterns and ended at the Avebury Stones just over 20 hours later.

Kerrin said: “We chose to fund-raise for Malvern Special Families because they provide an irreplaceable service for our family, so it’s very close to our hearts and nice to see in very real terms where the money goes.

“It was a tough day-night mentally and physically, but as we were still receiving donations during the day, it was a reminder of why we were doing it and that we couldn’t give up.

“The low points were the painful feet and toes but the high point was the sense of achievement that we kept going, completed 100km and finished what people had sponsored us to do.

“The feeling we have actually made a worthwhile donation to Malvern Special Families is priceless.”

The duo have raised £1,057.50 for MSF so far and donations continue to pour in.

Cassie Zoro, community fund-raiser at MSF, said: “Kerrin and Briony are real-life wonder women.

“They finished their Race to the Stones ultra-marathon in an incredible time and completely smashed their fund-raising total.

“It’s such an achievement for a brilliant cause and in a very impressive time.

“Our small charity relies on the enthusiasm of fabulous community fund-raisers like Kerrin and Briony and the generosity of their sponsors.”
