MALVERN will be transformed into a winter wonderland tomorrow (Saturday, November 26) with its Christmas Light Switch-On.
The festive fun will feature a magical lantern parade, which will begin at the bottom of Church Street at 5.40pm before making its way up to Belle Vue Island for 6pm.
When the parade arrives, the Christmas lights will be switched on by Mark James, one of the stars of this year’s Malvern Theatres pantomime, along with Malvern Mayor Nick Houghton and Father Christmas.
Ahead of the big switch-on, there will be plenty of Christmas activities, which were organised by Malvern Town Council, Malvern Hills District Council and Boffy Events and Markets.
Between 10am and 3.30pm, there will be a chance to meet Santa Claus and his Elves at his grotto at Malvern Library, with plenty of other free activities such as storytelling, dance workshops, musical performances, a visit from a polar bear and Peeler the police dog.
There will be an arts and food market in the town centre, as well as street entertainers, musicians, vintage cars, Morris dancers and a children’s ride.
And there will be a guide dog charity stall outside the post office.
This is the first time Malvern has been able to hold a full Christmas event since the start of the pandemic.
