A HORSE which ended up in a ditch in Stoke Lacy near Bromyard was rescued by fire crews.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s large animal rescue team from Bromyard and a crew from Hereford were called to the A465 at 11.44am this morning.
A woman was riding the horse when it was spooked by a rider.
The animal ended up on its side in a ditch and, after the rider raised the alarm, the firefighters were quickly on the scene.
Specialist equipment was used and a local farmer with a telehandler and under the supervision of a vet, the horse was sedated and then brought to safety.
The animal was then taken to a nearby stables and has now made a full recovery.
Following the incident drivers have been urged to limit their speed to a maximum of 15mph when passing a horse.
